Be it a home, an office or even a factory or a large manufacturing unit, fixtures and fittings of various types are very necessary. Most of us like to have fittings that are both functional as well as attractive in our homes and offices.

There are a large variety of products available in the market today which cater to every requirement of the plumbing community. These fixtures and fitments come in varying qualities and are made of different materials. Different functions of plumbing require fixtures in different materials so as to provide better security and prevent against breakages and other accidents. Of course, there are fittings available for every budget too.

Fixtures have to cater to a lot of sizes and lot of different areas of use. There are so many things required for plumbing that one has to ensure that only good quality fixtures are used. It would be a very difficult situation if the pipes and other accessories caused leakages or if they did not meet the accepted safety and quality control measures. Most registered companies ensure that their products go through the necessary quality control measures and offer a wide selection of products.

The choice, of course, is yours. As plumbing encompasses the bathrooms and the kitchen, such integral parts of your home, you might want to indulge in more expensive fittings. The choices available in the luxury range of faucets, showers, sinks, etc are mind-boggling.

Some of the companies who supply good quality fixtures at affordable rates are: A-Ball Plumbing Supply, Gerber Plumbing Fixtures, DiNapoli Plumbing Parts, Kirk Plumbing & Heating Supply Co. and Mansfield Plumbing Products. There are also a number of companies listed on the Internet who could be located close to you, or who would be willing to deliver the supplies at your doorstep. When in doubt, check with your plumber. He would be the best to advise you on what is acceptable and what is not.

Solar energy technology has come a long way in recent years and no longer do we need to live in the Sahara with a solar panel the size of a football field just to heat enough water for a cup of tea!

It’s long been recognized by residents that living in the South West of England means more sunshine than living elsewhere in the UK. No wonder then, that an ever growing number of people are having a couple of solar panels, now compact, efficient and hidden on the roof, installed in their homes.

The benefits are enormous and the once prohibitive costs have been significantly reduced. With huge backing from the government in terms of tax breaks, publicity and grants, any home can now have solar panels installed and do their bit for the environment as well as save money on utility bills.

In particular, a home having a solar water heating system installed will see an immediate decrease in heating costs of between 50% and 80%! Just think about how that translates into money in your pocket and you’ll soon realize how a solar water heating system pays for itself very, very quickly.

There are two ways of going about switching to a solar water heating system: doing it yourself and using a qualified installer. Doing it yourself is not really that hard if you are the sort of person that regularly carries out maintenance around the home. There are some excellent ‘how to’ books and videos out there that explain what sort of panels to look for, how to install them and how to connect them to a water heating system. Whilst saving as much as half of the cost of using a professional, this is a serious option for the home improvement enthusiast and property developer.

For those of us that who wouldn’t dream of rewiring a plug without first calling an electrician, you will be relieved to know that there is a growing army of skilled plumbers and heating engineers that now offer solar panel installation at a very reasonable price.

A local spokesman for solar energy, asked to explain the tremendous sudden growth in the market for solar energy explained: “In a recession, people look for all sorts of ways of reducing their outgoings. Say that someone buys one of the more expensive, all singing all dancing, ‘brand name’ solar heating systems, this would cost them about £4,000, (around $6,000) although there are a lot of systems around for about half this price. So if they borrowed the money to buy the system in the first place and put the loan onto their mortgage, they might be paying an extra £20 ($30) per month than they were paying before. Now, they will save an immediate £40 to £60 ($60 to $90) per month on their heating bills. They will be reducing their carbon footprint. and the value of their home may rise significantly as it becomes a lot more attractive to potential buyers. It’s really a no-brainer”.

Quite.

Plumbing question – mystery water leaks?

I had central heating installed about 1 month ago.

I am having no problems in my flat but there is a shop below me and apparently there is water coming through their ceiling. The shop is below me.

It's coming from 2 places – a slow drip.

The shop is vacant and I can't get hold of the landlord so my builder / plumber can see where the drips are coming from.

The leak has been reported to me by my neighbour who owns a casino which has a storeroom below the shop. She is saying that water is now coming into her store room.

My plumber has been around twice and is saying that the leak can't be from the central heating pipes as the boiler water pressure gauge hasn't dipped in 3 weeks and I still have hot water and radiators.

I just want to check before I get another plumber in to rip up the floor boards, is this right? Can there be a leak from central heating pipes and no reduction in water pressure or performance?

I am mystified.

Ciph And Neca For Your Electrical Trade Show

Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH)
Founded in Montreal in 1933, the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) is a non- profit association that has since been holding an electrical trade show. The CIPH actually plays a whole lot of other roles such as being the manufacturer, wholesaler, distributor, consultant and agent of a wide range of products in the field of engineering. The organization works on over 600 showrooms and warehouses.

The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) has over a thousand employees. Together with the electrical trade show prepared, CIPH can generate an income that can exceed beyond $4 billion. With offices that are domiciled within Toronto, the organization is operated by a board of directors. There are 19 officers taking the position together with 6 others in the committees that belong to either executive or finance.

Separated in two divisions namely Manufacturers and Wholesalers, the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) also has five councils. They consist of the Canadian Hydronics Council, Industrial Pipe Valve & Fittings Council, Education & Training Council, Manufacturers’ Agents Council and Plumbing Industry Advisory Council. All the mentioned ruling bodies have been essential in all the undertakings of CIPH.

National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)
An annual electrical trade show, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) has been responsible for putting altogether the conference of engineering contracting professionals from all over the United States. Each year, NECA has been taking care of not just the booths and galleries of the different corporations that registered, but also the management seminars. Talks of renowned speakers are also arranged and included..

The electrical trade show by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) always happens in Boston. Even if it is a highly- urbanized metropolis, the city is still able to preserve almost all of its historical landmarks. That alone adds to why Boston is among the perfect venues in staging events that will showcase products and services to the foreign market. Participants have all the reason to have a grand time taking home technical substance and treasured experiences as well.

The affair in 2006 kicked off with a grand opening at the Museum of Science. All the guests were able to enjoy hearty conversations, great food, good company and fantastic facilities. Exhibits included the Elihu Thomsons Theater of Electricity and Charles Hayden Planetarium. The two are just among the other 400 that actively joined. Immediately after the show, coordinators are beefing up another of its kind, but with an entire novel twist for next year.
